Miyetti Allah President Bodejo Granted N2bn Bail in Trial

Alhaji Bello Bodejo, the President of Miyetti Allah, has been granted bail of N2 billion by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja in relation to a money-laundering trial involving $2.63 million. The bail was admitted on Monday, with conditions including two sureties, one of whom must have a three-year tax clearance and reside in Abuja.

The second surety must provide land documents worth N2 billion in Abuja, which will be verified by the court registrar. Additionally, Bodejo is required to submit his international passport to the court registrar and is prohibited from traveling outside the country without court permission.

The trial is scheduled to commence on October 5, 2023. Bodejo faces multiple charges of money laundering, including accepting cash payments exceeding the statutory threshold without lawful authorization on several occasions between January and March 2024.
