PDP and APC Upload Candidates for 2027 Elections

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have initiated the process of uploading their governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. The PDP commenced this process on Saturday, as disclosed by Umar Batur, the party's national organizing secretary.

The exercise is ongoing and is expected to conclude by August 8, 2026. The APC has also begun uploading its candidates, with a focus on 16 incumbent governors who are seeking re-election.

These include Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), and Abba Yusuf (Kano), among others. The INEC has set deadlines for the submission of nomination forms, with the governorship candidates' list to be published on August 29, 2026.

The PDP and APC are expected to upload a total of 28 governorship candidates and 993 state house assembly candidates nationwide, while elections in eight states will not take place due to off-cycle schedules.
