Air Peace Blames Lessor for Flight Disruptions, Seeks Refund

Air Peace, a Nigerian airline, blames lessor SmartLynx for breaching their wet lease agreement by unlawfully withdrawing four aircraft from its fleet, causing severe flight disruptions. The Chief Commercial Officer of Air Peace, Nowel Ngala, disclosed that this action resulted in significant financial losses and reputational damage.

Air Peace is seeking a refund of $15 million, including a security deposit, for the damages incurred. The airline emphasizes that it has released three aircraft rightfully owned and requests a refund of its funds.

The abrupt withdrawal of aircraft has created operational gaps and inconvenienced Nigerian passengers during peak travel periods.
