Anambra, Benue, Kebbi, Kogi Launch Flood Protection Program

Anambra, Benue, Kebbi, and Kogi states have launched a landmark pilot program to protect 100,000 riverine households identified as vulnerable to flooding. This initiative was approved during a technical workshop held in Abuja, organized jointly by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Pula Advisor.

The program aims to address the challenges posed by annual flooding, with a focus on data-driven assessments to evaluate vulnerability. Dr.

Mike Enahoro, the country director for Pula Advisor, emphasized the importance of accurate data in identifying at-risk households and scaling the program effectively. The pilot phase is set to cover 100,000 households and is part of a broader strategy to reduce the impact of flooding on vulnerable populations.

The initiative is expected to be fully operational by 2026, aligning with the annual flood outlook approved by the federal government.
