Flood: Yobe SEMA relocates entire community to safer ground (PHOTOS)

Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has relocated the entire Garin Kolo community in Nangere Local Government Area to safer ground due to severe flooding. The Executive Secretary, Dr.

Mohammed Goje, stated that the intervention was necessary as the flood had devastated the community, displacing 240 households and contaminating public water sources and latrines. The evacuation was carried out in line with the governor's directive, with SEMA personnel working alongside relevant agencies to prioritize the safety of women, children, and the elderly.

The local government has provided land for resettlement, and temporary shelters have been erected for the 200 displaced people. Additionally, water reservoirs, emergency toilets, and medical facilities have been set up to ensure the well-being of the relocated individuals.

Security personnel have also been deployed to safeguard the operation. Several vulnerable individuals requiring medical attention have been promptly referred to the General Hospital in Nangere.
