Flying Eagles Triumph Over Ghana 4-2 in WAFU Opener

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria secured a 4-2 victory over the Black Satellites of Ghana in their opening match of the WAFU B U20 Championship on July 29 at Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire. Olayemi Ayinla opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 6th minute, but Ghana equalized through Mohammed Zaidan in the 23rd minute.

Nigeria regained the lead with a deflected free-kick from Lucky Oraro in the 30th minute and extended their advantage to 3-1 with a penalty converted by Muiz Adeleke in the 38th minute. In the second half, Ghana narrowed the gap to 3-2 with a penalty by Kelvin Nkrumah in the 60th minute.

However, Nigeria sealed the win with another penalty converted by Adeleke in the 89th minute. The Flying Eagles will face Togo in their next group match on July 30, followed by a match against Burkina Faso on August 2.
