Flying Eagles to Face Ghana in WAFU B U20 Opener

The Flying Eagles, Nigeria's U20 football team, are set to begin their title defense at the WAFU B U20 Championship against Ghana's Black Satellites on July 27, 2026. The match will take place at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro in Cote d’Ivoire, kicking off at 2 PM local time (3 PM Nigeria time).

This encounter is a rematch of the 2024 final, where the Flying Eagles defeated the Black Satellites 2-1 to emerge as champions. Following the match against Ghana, the Flying Eagles will face the Junior Sparrow Hawks of Togo on July 30, 2026, and conclude their group stage against the Young Stallions of Burkina Faso on August 2, 2026.

The current coach, Abdu Maikaba, will lead the team, which is scheduled to depart for Cote d’Ivoire on Monday for an intensive training camp in Abuja prior to the tournament.
