ADC Urges Electoral Reforms Over Election Date Change in Nigeria

The African Democrat Congress (ADC) has advised the National Assembly in Nigeria to prioritize comprehensive electoral reforms over shifting the 2027 general election to November 2026. The ADC believes that focusing on electoral and judicial reforms will guarantee credible elections and efficient dispute resolution without destabilizing the government.

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the spokesperson for ADC, emphasized the importance of avoiding a perpetual campaign cycle and ensuring governance continuity. The party warns that changing the election date could lead to deeper problems in Nigeria's democracy.
