Akpabio Rebukes Senators Over Senate Procedural Breach

On Friday, during a plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio rebuked Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Patrick Ndubueze for breaching the Senate's procedural rules while deliberating on a motion regarding stricter enforcement of compliance with Senate invitations by heads of government agencies. Oshiomhole attempted to include an additional prayer in the motion, which Akpabio interrupted, stating that additional prayers should not lead to further debate.

When Ndubueze seconded the motion, Akpabio interrupted him as well, insisting that his role was limited to seconding. Akpabio criticized Ndubueze for not understanding the rules after three years in the Senate and urged him to set a good example.

After confirming Ndubueze's seconding of the motion, Akpabio called for a voice vote, which resulted in the motion being rejected. This exchange occurred amid ongoing discussions about legislative oversight and the Senate's powers to compel attendance from government agency heads.
