Oshiomhole Challenges Akpabio Over Senate Agreement Breach

On Thursday, during Senate proceedings in Nigeria, Senator Adams Oshiomhole confronted Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of violating a peace agreement they had established to avoid revisiting past controversies. This exchange occurred while discussing the refusal of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to honor Senate Committee on Finance invitations, a motion sponsored by Senator Sani Musa.

Oshiomhole claimed that Akpabio's comments, which referenced a previous incident involving him, breached their truce. He humorously reminded Akpabio of their agreement, stating, “the truce is signed.

You should not violate, I will not violate.” Despite the public confrontation, Oshiomhole decided not to pursue a formal complaint against Akpabio, opting instead to drop a Senate rule he initially intended to invoke. Akpabio responded with an apology, clarifying that his comments were not meant to offend Oshiomhole and were made in response to another senator's contributions.
