FCT Women’s Inter-Area Council Tournament to Uncover Talents

The 2026 FCT FA Women’s Inter-Area Council Football Tournament is set to begin on Friday, August 21, 2026, with six Area Councils competing. Dr Pat Adjuma Ayegba, President and Founder of HerGame Foundation and Board Member of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCT FA), expressed optimism that the tournament will uncover new female football talents capable of reaching professional and international levels.

The tournament aims to strengthen grassroots women's football and provide competitive exposure for young players. Ayegba noted the success of the previous edition in discovering promising players and highlighted the FCT FA's efforts in organizing the event.

The tournament will feature Bwari, Gwagwalada, and AMAC in Group A, while Abaji, Kuje, and Kwali will compete in Group B. The semi-finals are scheduled for September 2, and the final will take place on September 5.

Ayegba also acknowledged the support of Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, in promoting women's football.
