Former Chief of Air Staff Sadiq Abubakar Quits Politics

Sadiq Abubakar, a retired Air Marshal and former Chief of Air Staff, has officially announced his withdrawal from active politics. He stated that he no longer belongs to any political party and will not be contesting for any political office.

Abubakar, who previously participated in the 2023 Bauchi State governorship election under the platform of the Abubakar Progress Congress (APC), lost to Governor Bala Mohammed of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). His announcement comes amid speculation regarding a potential governorship bid for the 2027 elections, which was fueled by the circulation of campaign posters in Bauchi State.

Abubakar, who retired from the Nigerian Air Force in 2021, expressed his intention to continue contributing to the development of the nation as a private citizen.
