Olusegun Mimiko Joins APC, Strengthening Political Landscape

Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday at the APC secretariat in Ondo West Local Government Area. His membership was formalized in the presence of APC state chairman Babatunde Kolawole and Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamid Oladiji.

Mimiko, who served as governor from 2009 to 2017 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had previously been a prominent figure in the Labour Party (LP) and played a significant role in the state's political landscape. His return to active partisan politics follows a period of relative political quiet, during which he maintained influence through loyalist networks across the state.

Sources indicate that Mimiko's strategic defection is expected to strengthen the APC, particularly in the Ondo Central senatorial district. His former spokesman, Akinsola, confirmed the development, stating that arrangements for his formal reception into the party had been concluded.
