Mimiko Defects to APC, Cites Tinubu's Economic Reforms

Olusegun Mimiko, the former governor of Ondo State, announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the influence of President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms as a key factor in his decision. Mimiko made this statement on Thursday during a formal event where he joined the APC, alongside Ondo State APC Chairman Kolawole Babatunde and Speaker of the State House of Assembly Olamid Oladiji.

He expressed his commitment to supporting Tinubu's administration in promoting peace and progress for national development. While acknowledging the challenges that remain in the administration's economic reform policies, Mimiko noted that these reforms directly influenced his political alignment.

He referred to ongoing discussions about decentralization policies and reiterated his long-standing support for state policing. Kolawole Babatunde described Mimiko's defection as a homecoming, indicating it would strengthen the party's structure in Ondo State and improve its political prospects for future elections.
