Former Green Eagles Star Henry Nwosu Dies at 62

Henry Nwosu, a former midfielder for the Green Eagles and the youngest member of the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations-winning team, died at the age of 62. His passing occurred in the early hours of Saturday after a five-day struggle in intensive care at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

The announcement of his death was made by former teammate and Nigerian football legend Segun Odegbami via a media platform. Nwosu was receiving intensive medical care since Wednesday before he succumbed to his health challenges.

His contributions to Nigerian football, particularly during the 1980 tournament, have left a lasting legacy in the sport.
