Super Eagles Mourn Passing of Henry Nwosu at 62

The Super Eagles have expressed their condolences following the death of former midfielder Henry Nwosu, who passed away at the age of 62. Nwosu was a member of Nigeria's historic squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980, marking the country's first title on home soil.

He was the youngest member of the Green Eagles team that achieved this feat, solidifying his place in Nigeria's football history. Born in Imo State, Nwosu was renowned for his vision, creativity, and technical abilities on the field.

After retiring from active football, he became a prominent figure in Nigerian domestic football, remaining involved in the sport as a coach and mentor, helping to nurture younger players. His death was announced on a Saturday, with former teammate Segun Odegbami revealing that Nwosu had been battling for his life in a Lagos State hospital for five days prior to his passing.
