Former Lawmaker Agbonayinma Resigns from APC in Edo

Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a letter dated April 1, 2026. The resignation was addressed to the chairman of the APC in Ikpoba Okha Ward 6.

Agbonayinma cited concerns over undemocratic practices within the party, noting that the structure has gradually become dominated by a few individuals, which he finds distressing. He expressed that the party's current trajectory undermines collective progress and reflects a trend of anti-democratic tendencies.

As a founding member of the party, Agbonayinma described his decision as a difficult but necessary step aligned with his vision for public service. He confirmed his intention to pursue political office, although he declined to disclose the platform on which he intends to contest.

He criticized the lopsided appointments within the party, particularly in Edo South, despite the region's significant political experience and strength.
