Nenadi Usman Becomes First Female Labour Party Chairman

Nenadi Usman has emerged as the National Chairman of the Labour Party following a national convention held on Tuesday in Umuahia, Abia State. This election marks a historic milestone as Usman becomes the first woman to lead a political party at the national level in Nigeria.

In her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence and pledged to work towards greater success for the party. Usman emphasized her commitment to unity and internal reconciliation within the party.

She commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for his leadership and promised not to disappoint in her new role. Usman was appointed to lead the national caretaker committee of the party's National Executive Council (NEC) after the expiration of the former National Working Committee (NWC).

She was later recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following a series of court rulings affirming her position. The Labour Party is preparing to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
