Former Nigerian President's Daughter to Run for Governor in 2027 Ogun State Elections

Iyabo Obasanjo, the daughter of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has announced her bid for the governorship of Ogun State in the 2027 elections. She made her declaration during an interactive program on Eagle7 Sport Radio 103.7FM.

Iyabo Obasanjo, a former senator who represented Ogun Central Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011, recently rejoined the APC ahead of the upcoming elections. She lost her re-election bid in 2011 and pursued an academic career, rising to the rank of professor in epidemiology.

Encouraged by sustained pressure and support, she decided to return to active politics. Iyabo Obasanjo clarified that she is not interested in appointed positions but is focused on seeking higher responsibilities through the electoral process.
