Iyabo Obasanjo Aims for APC Ticket in Ogun 2027 Race

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has officially announced her intention to compete for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in the 2027 Ogun State governorship election. During a media parley with journalists in Abeokuta, she expressed her determination to contest, stating she is fully prepared and will utilize every legitimate political means to secure the ticket.

Iyabo dismissed rumors suggesting she might withdraw from the race in favor of another candidate, asserting her confidence in winning. She highlighted Ogun State's unique historical significance as the birthplace of Nigeria's first elected female governor in 2027.

While she did not name potential rivals, she emphasized her roots in service and development. Iyabo also addressed claims regarding her grassroots connections, labeling them as inaccurate and misleading, and recounted her previous engagements in hard-to-reach communities.

She explained her recent absence from frontline politics as a period of gaining valuable exposure abroad, which she believes will enhance her contributions to governance.
