Former Ondo Deputy Governor Resigns from PDP, Set to Join APC

Otunba Omolad Oluwateru, a former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) due to internal crises within the party. Oluwateru, who served as Deputy Governor under late Governor Olusegun Agagu from 2003 to 2009, expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the PDP, particularly criticizing the actions of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

He announced his resignation during celebrations for his 79th birthday in Akure, the Ondo State capital. Oluwateru has not yet officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), but the APC Chairman, Engr.

Ad Adetimehin, has expressed readiness to welcome him. The move is expected to strengthen the APC in Ondo State and contribute to the party's support for President Bola Tinubu's transformation agenda.

Muyiwa Asagunla, the Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, praised Oluwateru's decision to join the APC, foreseeing a decline in the PDP due to such defections.
