Akindele Urges APC Reconciliation Ahead of 2027 Elections

Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, the first female Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, cautioned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against alleged anti-party activities as the 2027 general elections approach.

In her statement, Akindele expressed concern over some APC members reportedly supporting candidates from opposition parties, which she believes could have detrimental effects on the party if not addressed promptly. She clarified that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was not complicit in these actions, stating it would be politically unwise for a governor to weaken his own party.

Akindele emphasized the need for urgent reconciliation within the party, warning that discontent could spread from Ondo South Senatorial District to other areas. She criticized the state party's reconciliation committee, arguing that those aggrieved should not lead the reconciliation efforts.

Akindele urged the national leadership of the APC to establish credible reconciliation mechanisms to address the grievances of disaffected members and appealed to disgruntled members to cease hostilities.
