Ameh Argu Critiques Court Ruling on NDC's Status

Ameh Argu, a former presidential candidate, criticized a recent court ruling concerning the National Democratic Congress (NDC), asserting that the court overstepped its authority by reviewing its earlier judgment. He contended that the court's decision to deregister the NDC was unfounded, as the party had already conducted congresses and produced candidates across Nigeria.

Argu raised concerns about the implications of judicial manipulation on democracy, particularly in the context of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking to maintain power without transparent electoral processes. He noted that the Peace Movement Party, which filed the application against the NDC, is not a registered political party and therefore lacks legal standing.

Argu emphasized that the court should not revisit its judgments except under extraordinary circumstances, warning that the ruling could undermine the integrity of the judiciary and the finality of court decisions.
