Bandits Kill 9 Farmers in Kaduna, Abduct Many More

On Saturday afternoon, armed bandits attacked farmers in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna, resulting in the deaths of at least nine individuals. The assault reportedly began around 3 PM when two armed bandits attempted to steal a farmer's motorcycle, leading to a violent confrontation.

Local sources confirmed that nine bodies were recovered from the fields, with three victims remaining unidentified. The deceased have been named as Habibu Danko, Zaharaddin Musa, Gumu Maibaka, Mayana, Umar Maibaka, Yusufu Dankatakaki, and Shaf Iu Kagadama.

The bandits also abducted several farmers, prompting fears for their safety and potential execution. Local residents, including Ishaq Kasai, expressed their distress over the escalating violence, stating that people cannot safely farm without facing threats.

This attack follows a previous incident on Friday, where a man was killed and a motorcycle was stolen on the Birnin Gwari-Kaduna road. Search and rescue operations led by local vigilantes are ongoing.
