Bandits Kill Two, Abduct Five in Sokoto Village Attack
On Sunday, bandits attacked Makuwana Village in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto, resulting in the deaths of two residents, identified as Nasiru Ibrahim (also known as Nasiru Dan Tanin) and Mansir Sani. Five individuals, including three women and an infant, were abducted during the assault.
The victims were identified as Saifullahi Saminu, Abdullahi Salihu, Dogo, and three women named Safara U, Halima, and Manira Tasi U, with the infant being carried by one of the women. Residents reported that the attack occurred without prior intelligence, leaving them no time to organize a defense.
This incident marks the latest in a series of attacks, with a previous incident on June 23 resulting in the abduction of 14 residents. Local residents have appealed to the Sokoto State government to deploy security personnel to vulnerable communities like Makuwana, which remain without adequate security despite repeated attacks.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Sokoto State Police Command were unsuccessful.
