Kano Assembly Lawmaker Joins NDC After APC Defection

A member of the Kano State Assembly representing the Gwale constituency has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the New Democratic Party (NDC) after failing to secure a re-election ticket. The lawmaker was welcomed into the NDC by former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who is a prominent figure in Kano politics and currently leads the party.

This defection is viewed as a major boost for the NDC's grassroots support in the state. The lawmaker's shift to the NDC follows the inability to secure the APC ticket for the upcoming assembly elections.

Additionally, this move comes shortly after a Federal High Court judgment that reportedly relaxed earlier restrictions imposed on political defections. The APC has been warned by opposition spokespeople that it may soon face a wave of defections.
