Four Killed in Benue Ambush of Travelers on Rural Road

On Saturday, four travelers were killed in an ambush by attackers along a rural road in Benue State. The deceased victims were identified as Elijah Ojemah, Husaini Odiya, Ochowechi Ochoyoda, and Adejo.

Melvin Ejeh, the chairman of Agatu Local Government Area (LGA), confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi. The area has been facing challenges with security, prompting local authorities to implement robust security strategies.

Despite these efforts, the attackers managed to overrun the community, leading to the ambush. Current clearance operations are ongoing in the community's forests, involving security agencies, including the local police and vigilante groups.

The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udem Edet, stated that a report from the division officer is pending.
