Nigeria Secures French Support for Counter-Terrorism Efforts

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has announced a strategic collaboration with French President Emmanuel Macron to bolster Nigeria's counter-terrorism capabilities. During a meeting at the Ikoyi residence in Lagos, Tinubu revealed plans to leverage goodwill and credit lines to acquire essential military equipment and training for Nigerian security forces.

This initiative follows discussions held during Tinubu's recent state visit to the United Kingdom, where he emphasized the importance of international partnerships in addressing security challenges in West Africa. The President highlighted the ongoing threats posed by groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province, as well as banditry and separatist agitation.

Tinubu's administration is committed to investing in technology and equipment to defeat these security threats. Additionally, Vice President Kashim Shettima visited victims of recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, assuring that the government will enhance counter-terrorism operations and provide necessary support to affected communities.
