France to Aid Nigeria with Military Equipment Support

Following a phone call on Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron has agreed to support Nigeria with military equipment, as disclosed by President Bola Tinubu during a meeting with state governors in Ikoyi, Lagos. This collaboration is part of Nigeria's strategy to leverage goodwill and secure necessary equipment and training for its security forces to combat terrorism.

Tinubu emphasized the need for collective efforts to achieve victories against security challenges, particularly in light of recent bomb blasts in Maiduguri that killed 23 people and injured 108. Vice President Kashim Shettima visited victims at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, assuring support for the affected.

Tinubu's discussions also included a recent state visit to the UK, where he engaged with King Charles III and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, focusing on deepening security cooperation and addressing economic concerns stemming from the Middle East crisis. The Nigerian government is committed to investing in technology and equipment to defeat various security threats, including Boko Haram and banditry.
