Nigeria Seeks UK, France Support Against Insecurity

President Bola Tinubu announced that Nigeria is engaged in talks with the United Kingdom and France to secure military equipment and support in the fight against insecurity. During a meeting held in Ikoyi, Lagos, which coincided with the Eid el-Fitr celebrations, Tinubu, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima and 23 governors, discussed the ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.

He reassured citizens of the government's commitment to their safety and emphasized the need for collaboration with international partners. Tinubu also addressed the economic challenges posed by crises in the Middle East, which are expected to exacerbate inflation and affect purchasing power.

He urged governors to remain resilient and to implement policies that directly impact citizens' livelihoods. The discussions included a focus on state policing and the need for legislative frameworks to support security agencies.

The meeting highlighted the importance of strengthening relationships with the UK and France, marking a significant step in Nigeria's international security collaborations.
