Nigerian Army Warns Against Fraudsters on Social Media

The Nigerian Army has alerted the public regarding fraudulent activities involving individuals impersonating senior military officials on social media platforms, especially Facebook. A statement released on Sunday via the Army's official X handle indicated that fraudsters have created fake accounts using the names and photographs of Major General Raymond Utsaha, the Deputy Chief of Standards and Evaluation, and Major General Bamidel Alabi, the Chief of Police Plan.

The Army emphasized that these accounts were created with malicious intent to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public by falsely representing themselves as authorized personnel engaging in official matters. The Army advised the public to disregard any friend requests or financial solicitations from unofficial accounts and reiterated that senior military officials do not conduct official transactions or request financial assistance through social media.

The Army urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious account activities to appropriate security agencies, stating that they continue to monitor necessary measures against individuals or groups involved in cyber impersonation and fraudulent activities.
