FG Declares Correctional Centers Red Zones Amid #FreeNnamdiKanu Protests

The Nigerian Correctional Service has declared correctional centers nationwide as red zones ahead of planned protests in Abuja for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader. Kanu is facing charges of treason and terrorism after being extradited to Nigeria and re-arrested.

The move comes amid concerns of possible disruptions to public order. Additionally, Omoyele Sowore, a member of a pro-Biafra group, is also planning a demonstration demanding his release from DSS custody.

The NCS has urged citizens to exercise caution and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a peaceful environment.
