Fresh Violence in Benue: Herders Kill Five, Bandits Abduct 14 in Separate Attacks

In Benue State, Nigeria, recent violence has erupted with herders killing five individuals and bandits abducting 14 passengers. The attacks took place in various areas, including Tuutuu Entekpa Ward in Adoka, Otukpo Local Government Area, and along the Okpokwu axis.

Just within 48 hours, nine worshippers were kidnapped during a vigil at St. John's Catholic Church in Ojiji Utonkon, Ado Local Government Area.

Local sources in Makurdi confirmed the incidents, with the Chairman of Oju LGA, Jackson Ominyi, and the Ward Head of Tuutuu Entekpa, Oliv Inalegwu, providing details. The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udem Edet, confirmed the abductions and the herder attacks.

The affected villages are reportedly deserted following the violent attacks, highlighting the escalating security challenges in the region.
