ADC Faction Accuses Rivals of Illegal Takeover Attempts

A leadership crisis has emerged within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as a faction led by Nafiu Bala has accused rival members of attempting an illegal takeover of the party. The faction has formally complained to the US Embassy in Abuja, urging the embassy to impose sanctions, including visa restrictions, on individuals allegedly involved in this unconstitutional takeover.

Bala claims that the authentic national chairman of the party, along with certain politicians, has violated the ADC constitution by failing to follow due process in assuming leadership positions. The crisis traces back to the resignation of the former national chairman, Ralph Okei Nwosu, and the faction alleges that external political actors are interfering in the party's affairs to seize control.

Bala emphasized that the matter has been taken to court and dismissed claims that the faction supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's ruling party, the All Progressives Congress. He called for vigilance within the party to safeguard democratic principles.
