Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi Finalize Campaign Councils

As political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party-backed Peter Obi are finalizing their campaign structures. The Independent National Electoral Commission has opened the campaign period, allowing candidates to commence their campaigns.

The ruling All Progressives Congress has already announced its 223-member Presidential Campaign Council. In contrast, Atiku’s African Democratic Congress is still consulting on its campaign team’s composition and leadership.

Phrank Shaibu, Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, stated that the campaign council's details would be disclosed once consultations are complete. He emphasized that Atiku's campaign would include a fundraising framework compliant with legal standards.

Atiku aims to engage Nigerians on pressing issues and propose alternatives to current policies, particularly regarding a targeted fuel subsidy linked to domestic production. Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress, with Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, plans to meet next weekend to finalize its campaign council.
