Outrage in Barkin Ladi Over Fresh Killings and Security Failures

Over the weekend, Barkin Ladi in Plateau State experienced severe attacks that left at least seven people dead, including a police officer, and several others injured. The assaults, reportedly carried out by heavily armed groups, occurred late Saturday across various communities.

The Berom Youth Moulder Association, represented by Rwang Tengwong, condemned the security failures despite the presence of multiple checkpoints in the area. They criticized the Plateau State government for its weak humanitarian response to recurring violence, questioning the lack of a dedicated Ministry of Homeland Security and Humanitarian Services.

Dr. Solomon Chollom, a virologist and president of the Plateau State Association UK, warned of a humanitarian crisis exacerbated by daily killings and mass displacements. He emphasized the need for robust government intervention to address the ongoing violence and trauma, as victims often face inadequate support and are left to search for bodies without official assistance.

The situation remains dire, with residents living in constant fear of attacks.
