Five Killed in Gunmen Ambush in Plateau State

On Sunday night, at least five people were killed when gunmen ambushed residents in Fan District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victims were returning home around 9 PM when the assailants opened fire without warning, resulting in four deaths on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries later in the hospital.

Pam Saidu, a resident of Fan, confirmed the incident, and Rwang Tengwong, the Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulder Association, described the killings as unfortunate and condemned the violence. He urged security agencies to take immediate action to protect lives and property in the area.

The council has called for urgent measures to prevent further attacks, as recent months have seen a recurrence of violence, raising fears among residents. The Plateau State Police Command had not issued a statement regarding the incident by the time of contact on Monday, and spokesperson Alabo Alfr did not respond to calls.
