Kano NDC Chairman Rejects Kwankwaso's Control Attempt

Usaini Isa Mai Riga, the Kano State Chairman of the NDC, has publicly rejected former President Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso's attempt to take control of the party. Mai Riga stated that the party structure will not hand over control to Kwankwaso, who recently defected to the NDC and obtained a membership card.

This statement came just 24 hours after Kwankwaso's defection. Mai Riga emphasized that the current leadership will resist any attempts to control the party, stressing the unacceptability of Kwankwaso's efforts to reach a common ground ahead of his entry into the party.

Despite holding two separate meetings to discuss leadership arrangements, the discussions broke down. Mai Riga also revealed a decision to suspend plans for a state congress based on instructions from the party's national leadership, citing the timing of Kwankwaso's entry, although similar congresses are set to proceed in other states.

As of now, Kwankwaso has not formally engaged with the state party leadership.
