Kwankwaso Threatens Exit from NDC Over Candidate Dispute

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former Governor of Kano State, has reportedly threatened to exit the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) following the replacement of candidates from the Kwankwasiyya faction. The conflict arises from allegations that the NDC breached a power-sharing agreement, which was documented and signed by the Kano State NDC Chairman, Hon.

Hussaini Isah Mairiga. The agreement stipulated a distribution of party positions for electoral tickets, with the Kwankwasiyya bloc receiving 60% and the original party structure retaining 40%.

Adjustments were made to the list of approved candidates for federal constituencies, including Barrister Isma Il Idris, Nasiru Ali, and others. The NDC's stance on the agreement regarding the distribution of party offices has led to tensions within the party, particularly affecting the Kwankwasiyya faction.
