Court Schedules Hearing for Mohbad Death Re-investigation

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set May 28 for a hearing concerning the re-investigation of the death of popular musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known by his stage name Mohbad. The court, presided over by Justice Jame Omotosho, ordered that a notice be served to the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State to ensure their appearance in the suit filed by the Break the Silence Foundation.

This non-governmental organization seeks to compel the police to conduct a thorough and impartial re-investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's death, which occurred in September 2023. The application includes inviting individuals who were last seen with the deceased, particularly his wife Omowumi Cynthia Aloba and close associates.

The court also directed that the police investigate the circumstances surrounding the hurried burial of the late singer without prior police clearance. The matter has been adjourned until May 28, following a motion for part relief sought by the applicant's counsel, Chief Tund Falola.
