Maiduguri Explosions: 23 Dead, 146 Injured in Attacks

On Monday night, Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, experienced multiple explosions that led to the deaths of at least 23 individuals and injured 146 others. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed these figures, stating that a total of 169 victims were evacuated to different medical facilities across the city.

The explosions occurred in strategic locations, including the entrance gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the Monday Market area. Umaru Shehu Hospital in Maiduguri treated many of the victims.

Residents expressed shock and fear, recalling the city's history of violence and bomb attacks, with the last major incident occurring in 2021. The Borno State Police Command deployed its Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to assess the situation and conduct clearance operations.

Nahum Kenneth Daso, the police public relations officer, urged residents to remain calm and vigilant as investigations continue into the attacks, which are suspected to be linked to insurgent activities.
