Deadly Explosions Rock Maiduguri Market, Five Confirmed Dead

On Monday, a series of explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State, have left many feared dead, with five confirmed fatalities reported by health officials. The attacks occurred at the Monday market, where the first bomb detonated, causing chaos as people were leaving after breaking their fast.

Witnesses described the scene, noting that a brother of one victim was seen bleeding and taken to Abacha Mustapha Hospital. The explosions were attributed to Boko Haram terrorists, who reportedly used improvised explosive devices and a female suicide bomber.

The Nigerian Red Cross confirmed the situation, with staff on the ground struggling to assist the injured. Local security analysts indicated that the insurgents have been demonstrating an ability to attack military and civilian locations, suggesting a long-term plan to infiltrate Maiduguri.

Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum condemned the attacks, while security forces have been mobilized to restore calm and assess the situation.
