He graduated from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom in 2016 and is married to Zahra Bayero, a member of the Kano royal family, which enhances his social standing in northern Nigeria. His potential candidacy is supported by local party leaders within the APC, and he is expected to rely heavily on local support to secure the nomination.

The current governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, has also indicated alignment with Yusuf's candidacy, which is crucial for navigating the party's internal structures as he seeks to establish a public image in the political arena.
