Yusuf Buhari Announces Bid for House of Representatives

Yusuf Buhari, the son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has officially declared his intention to run for a political position in the upcoming 2027 general elections. He aims to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing the Sandamu, Daura, Mai Adua constituency.

This announcement was disclosed by Bahir Ahmad, a former aide to his father, via a statement on social media. Yusuf's decision follows extensive consultations with stakeholders in the region.

His father, Muhammadu Buhari, served as the President of Nigeria from 2015 until his death on July 13, 2025. Yusuf's candidacy is positioned within the framework of the Progressive Congress, the political party that his father was associated with during his presidency.
