Team Nigeria Shines at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

At the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Team Nigeria made history with significant achievements across multiple sports, supported by the National Sports Commission (NSC). Samuel Ogazi won gold in the men's 400m, marking Nigeria's first medal in this event in 32 years.

Enku Ekuta secured bronze in the women's -63kg judo event, ending a 24-year medal drought for Nigeria in judo. Jessica Oji claimed silver in the women's shot put, concluding a 20-year wait for a medal in this event.

Folashade Oluwafemiayo set a world record in para-powerlifting, reinforcing her status as the best in her category. Kayinsola Ajayi won bronze in the men's 100m, ending a 20-year medal drought, while Ella Onojuvwevwo's bronze in the women's 400m marked Nigeria's first medal in this event since 1994.

Rita Ferdinand achieved a world record while winning silver in para-powerlifting. Onome Omolola Didih dominated the women's 53kg weightlifting event to claim gold.

The mixed 4×400m relay team set a new Commonwealth Games record and a Nigerian national record.
