Lagos Transforms Youth Centers into Opportunity Hubs

The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, under the leadership of Co-Chair Femi Balogun, is reimagining youth centers as opportunity hubs. This initiative, supported by the newly established Technical Working Group on Youth Engagement, aims to create safe spaces for young people to learn, innovate, and connect.

With 70% of Lagos' population being youth, the program addresses critical issues such as unemployment, insecurity, and mental health pressures. The centers will provide vocational training, mentorship, and access to healthcare services, including sexual and reproductive health support.

The initiative emphasizes co-creation, allowing young people to actively participate in shaping their future rather than being passive recipients of policies. The Lagos State government plans to leverage existing infrastructure to optimize opportunities for youth, ensuring that these centers become platforms for delivering social impact initiatives and fostering community engagement.
