FRSC Warns Motorists to Exercise Caution During Rainy Season

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), led by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, has cautioned motorists to exercise maximum caution as heavy rainfall is expected across Nigeria. In a statement signed by Osondu Ohaeri in Abuja on Wednesday, the FRSC warned that poor visibility and slippery roads significantly increase the risk of road traffic crashes.

Drivers are advised to adopt necessary safety precautions during every journey, including reducing speed and strictly adhering to traffic regulations to ensure safe arrival at their destinations. The FRSC emphasized the importance of vehicle inspections, particularly ensuring that windshields, headlights, brake lights, and turn signals are in good working condition.

Additionally, motorists are instructed to switch on their headlights during rain, regardless of the time of day, and to ensure their tires have adequate tread depth for proper grip. The FRSC has also noted an increase in reckless driving incidents and reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing traffic laws and promoting responsible driving to protect lives on Nigerian highways.
