Nine Dead in Niger and Lagos Road Accidents

On Monday, a tragic series of road accidents in Niger and Lagos states resulted in the deaths of nine people. In Niger State, five individuals were confirmed dead, and 20 others sustained severe injuries in a crash along the Lapai-Agai road.

The incident involved a trailer transporting 600 bags of soybean and a passenger vehicle carrying 27 individuals traveling from Kano to Lagos. The driver reportedly lost control due to poor road conditions, causing the vehicle to veer off the highway.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sector commander, Aishat Sa'ad, confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 7:20 AM. In Lagos, four people, including a traffic officer, were killed when a truck crashed into a roundabout's garden fence.

The truck's driver experienced brake failure, leading to the collision. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) director, Adebayo Taofiq, did not respond to inquiries regarding the incidents.
