FRSC Launches NigeriaRAP to Enhance Road Safety

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) inaugurated the Nigeria Road Assessment Programme (NigeriaRAP) steering committee on Thursday at the FRSC National Headquarters in Abuja. The event was led by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, who described the inauguration as a significant milestone in Nigeria's efforts to build safer roads and achieve global road safety targets.

The NigeriaRAP aims to reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities through a strategic partnership and data-driven management of road infrastructure safety. The steering committee will provide strategic direction and leadership for the successful implementation of the NigeriaRAP blueprint.

The programme is built on three key pillars: strengthening local partnerships, promoting international collaboration, and supporting the attainment of a three-star road safety rating for Nigerian roads. The journey towards institutionalizing the programme began with the inauguration of a stakeholder committee in February 2021, gaining momentum with the signing of a national licensing agreement with iRAP on November 18, 2025.
