FRSC Launches Operation to Enhance Road Safety in North-West

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) initiated a three-day special patrol operation named “Daidaita Lodi” and “Lodi Limit” across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states to combat overloading, mixed loading, and other traffic offences contributing to road crashes. This operation is part of a nationwide effort conducted simultaneously across the FRSC’s 12 zones to improve adherence to road safety regulations.

At the flag-off in Sokoto, Assistant Corps Marshal Shaba Bariam Akanbi stated that the operation was directed by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed to enhance enforcement against hazardous road practices. The focus will be on overloading, carrying passengers with goods, highway obstruction, and other traffic violations, complemented by public enlightenment efforts.

Sokoto State Commissioner for Transport, Bala Kokani Kebbe, emphasized the timeliness of the campaign, citing overloading as a significant cause of preventable road crashes. The Sultanate Council, represented by Aminu Bala, pledged support for road safety initiatives, urging motorists to follow traffic rules.

Offenders during the operation will face prosecution by a Mobile Court, as warned by Sokoto State Sector Commander Adamu Argungu.
